31 July 2017- Global Business Power (GBP) through its official retail energy arm, Global Energy Supply Corporation (GESC), recently signed an agreement with SM Prime Holdings, Inc. (SMPHI) for the supply of electricity to certain SM malls in the Visayas pursuant to the Energy Regulatory Commission’s retail competition and open access (RCOA) scheme.

 

“We are proud and grateful to have gained the trust of SMPHI, one of Southeast Asia’s leading integrated property developers, and we look forward to harnessing various opportunities as we work together towards propelling Visayas forward,” said GBP President Jaime T. Azurin. Echoing Azurin, SMPHI Chief Finance Officer John C. Ong says, “We are optimistic on this new partnership and we thank GBP for helping us find solutions to our need for reliable energy supply.”

 

GBP is one of the leading independent power producers in the Visayas and Mindoro, with facilities located in Cebu, Iloilo, Aklan, and Mindoro. It is currently developing a 2X335 MW supercritical coal-fired power facility in La Union, and has recently acquired a 50% interest in Mindanao-based Alsons Thermal Energy Corporation, which serves as the holding company for all baseload coal-fired power plant assets of Alsons Consolidated Resources, Inc. (ACR). #
