As part of Global Business Power Corporation’s (GBP) service to its neighboring communities, a month-long Information, Education, Communication (IEC) campaign is slated to run in support of Fire Prevention Month beginning March 4, 2016.

In partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the IEC campaign will be conducted in all 28 adopted barangays of GBP in Cebu, Iloilo, Aklan and Mindoro.

March has been deemed Fire Prevention Month to promote consciousness on fire preventive safety measures especially during the summer months.  According to the BFP, the month of March has the highest number of fire incidents, about 9,000 – 10,000  incidents nationwide.

As a fire safety precaution, keep the following tips in mind:  make sure all family or office members know what to do in the event of a fire by preparing a floor plan with at least two ways out of every room.

Aside from this, test windows and doors if the open easily and if they are wide or tall enough.
Choose a safe meeting place outside the house.Practice alerting other members. It is a good idea to keep a bell and flashlight in each bedroom.

Keep in mind to check your electrical installations regularly and have all frayed wiring, damaged sockets, switches and other defective electrical fixtures changed or repaired promptly.
